As I'm sure you have all figured out by now, the way Circles work requires everyone to add each other - or - at least all add one specific person who will act as a spokesperson for any G-Slate updates/news.
So, if you see I've added you to a circle (you will recognize my avatar) and you don't add me to your G-Slate circle, I won't see your posts.
